This system is of great significance to Ukraine's scientific community, as it serves as a tool for transitioning many processes into the digital realm, including competitions, accreditation, and record-keeping. This year, two competitions for research and development projects organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine are being held in this system. In simple terms, this marks a real opportunity to leave behind the days of paper-based procedures," noted Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Denis Kurbatov.

The development of the National Electronic Scientific Information System (URIS) began in 2020. The system currently features modules that are operational, including personal accounts, competitions, institution profiles, researcher profiles, project profiles, publication records, and research infrastructure. Additionally, the system provides consulting services in the field of science.

Modules under development include accreditation of scientific institutions and higher education institutions, the state register of state-supported scientific institutions, and the state register of research infrastructure. The future development of URIS includes improving existing modules and creating new ones, addressing legislative shortcomings that hinder system efficiency, providing Ukrainian scientists, research institutions, and higher education institutions with a digital tool to showcase their research infrastructure and scientific achievements, enabling communication between businesses and academia, tracking losses in the Ukrainian research infrastructure due to a full-scale invasion, and facilitating information exchange between electronic document circulation systems related to research funding.

The State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine will be responsible for the development and improvement of URIS.
