The Institute is the main scientific organization in Ukraine in the field of radio astronomy and radio physics research of outer space. Currently, the Institute has the following approved scientific areas:
- radio astronomy of the Universe;
- remote sensing of the geocosm and the Solar System;
- physical principles of construction of radio telescopes and radio engineering remote sensing systems.
