The Department of Problem of Activity and Development Strategy of the NAS of Ukraine has been functioning within the structure of the Institute for over 30 years, since 1991, from the very beginning of the institution's establishment. The main scientific tasks of the department are:
-research on socio-economic problems of the NAS of Ukraine's activities;
-development of a strategy for the development of the scientific and technological potential of the NAS of Ukraine;
-development of methodology and tools for forecasting and monitoring the development of the scientific and technological potential and the effectiveness of the NAS of Ukraine's activities;
-research on methodological problems and development of applied tools for scientometrics, bibliometrics, and web scientometrics;
-monitoring research and creation of databases on specific areas of scientific research conducted within the Academy;
-scientometrics monitoring of publications in domestic mass media on problems of science development in Ukraine, the activities of the NAS of Ukraine, and the publication activity of scientists;
-international scientific and technological cooperation and the representation of the NAS of Ukraine in the global scientific community.
The Department is one of the few scientific departments not only within the NAS of Ukraine but also among scientific units (such as departments or laboratories) in other scientific institutions of Ukraine, aimed at studying academic science, primarily the NAS of Ukraine. The department's staff have unique experience in research activities within the NAS of Ukraine's scientific institutions, which, combined with their long-standing work in the field of practical science studies, gives them an advantage in conducting comprehensive research on scientific and technical activities and related sectors of the economy.
The department conducts research on theoretical and methodological aspects of applying a problem-oriented approach and forecasting and analytical studies of scenarios for the development of scientific potential and the effectiveness of the NAS of Ukraine's activities, as well as those of other national academies of sciences; identifying the main factors influencing the development of processes for integrating the NAS of Ukraine into the European and Euro-Asian scientific space; conducting sociological research on the organization, management, and popularization of scientific activities within the NAS of Ukraine; performing comparative analysis of contemporary systems of managing scientific and technical activities in Ukraine and other countries, and the involvement of national academies of sciences, particularly considering the experience of international academic organizations. Within the framework of determining the priority directions for the development of scientific research, a comprehensive forecasting and analytical study was conducted, resulting in a list of the most relevant research areas across eight priority thematic directions.
Researchers can access the structural unit for the purpose of purchasing/using services or products, provided that an agreement is signed between the researcher and the institution
