We major in automatic speech recognition, understanding and synthesis leading to creation of multilingual/multimodal dictation, transcribing, spoken dialog and translation systems. In the past century, the means for multilingual spoken dialogue were developed, like the Mova (Rech) System series. In the early 2000s, the department initiated the Pattern Computer National R&D Program, which allowed the development of microelectronic devices, like Speech-Controlled Digital Recorder and Spoken Dictionary-Interpreter. The latest update significantly expanded the scope of application, particularly in the area of national security.
