The Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Work was called the Laboratory of Social Pedagogy and Social Work until April 1, 2025. The laboratory was founded in 2003.
The purpose of the Department's activities is to theoretically substantiate innovative approaches to social pedagogy and social work, develop methodological approaches and socio-pedagogical technologies in educational institutions of various types, identify objective patterns and trends in personality education in various social institutions (systems) and purposefully apply them in practice.
Tasks of the Department's activities: develop a theory and methodology for educating a growing personality in society; study and analysis of socio-pedagogical theories and practices of foreign countries; develop socio-pedagogical forms and methods of education; instrumental support for the process of personality socialization in educational institutions; development of technologies of socio-pedagogical support and socio-pedagogical support of vulnerable categories of children and students.
The main areas of work of the Department: research of socio-value activities of schoolchildren, study of foreign experience of civic education and upbringing; study of the features of socio-pedagogical support of the formation of a responsible civic position of children from families of internally displaced persons; study of the essential characteristics of the educational potential of the family; creation of socio-pedagogical technology for increasing the educational potential of parents from families of internally displaced persons; determination of the content and technological characteristics of implementing socio-pedagogical support for the formation of leadership qualities of children by means of non-formal education; monitoring of social, value and family-oriented expectations and life strategies of modern students; development of diagnostic tools for monitoring social expectations; conducting consultations for social educators of educational institutions of various levels and social workers; preparation of scientific and methodological literature on social pedagogy and social work.
