Olena Filipets received her medical degree from Bukovinian State Medical University, Chernivtsi, Ukraine and completed her postgraduate medical education at BSMU with training in Neurology. She continued education in residency in neurology as a neurologist in training. She was accepted to the position of an assistant professor at the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Medical Psychology named after S.M. Savenka BSMU. Since 2015, she has been working as an associate professor of the department.
Dr. Filipets obtained a PhD degree in neurology in 2011 at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine. The topic of the dissertation is "Cerebral stroke according to the data of stroke register in Chernivtsi (clinical, neurological and epidemiological research). The research interests include cerebrovascular deseases, stroke epidemiology, diagnosis, management and prevention. In collaboration with Department of Pharmacology BSMU Dr. Filipets takes part in experimental study of acute and chronic kidney injury and nephroprotective activity of potassium and calcium channel modulators.
