From 1968 to 1972 he studied at the paramedic department of the Kolomyia Medical School and received a diploma with honors. In 1972-1974 he served in the Soviet Army. In the period 1974-1980 he studied at the sanitary and hygienic faculty of the Lviv Medical Institute, where he received the qualification of a hygienist, epidemiologist.
After graduating with honors from the Lviv Medical Institute from 1980 to 1983 he worked as the chief state sanitary doctor of the Verkhovyna district, a postgraduate student of the Department of General Hygiene - since 1983, an assistant - since 1986, an associate professor - since 1992, a professor - since 1998. Head of the Department of Hygiene and Ecology from 1991 to the present.
