On February 5, 2026, the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, H.E. Mr. Park Ki-chang, accompanied by First Secretary for Economic Affairs, Mr. Oh Se-jong.

The purpose of the visit was to gain deeper insight into the Library’s activities as Ukraine’s leading scientific library and one of the country’s largest repositories of scientific, historical, and cultural heritage, as well as to discuss prospects for future cooperation.

During the meeting, the Library’s leadership presented its key areas of activity, highlighting its role as a scientific, information, and socio-cultural center, as well as its status as a United Nations depository library in Ukraine. Particular attention was given to issues of preserving documentary heritage, strengthening international partnerships, and implementing modern approaches to safeguarding cultural collections.

As a result of the discussions, the parties agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation in the field of librarianship, cultural exchange, and the protection of national heritage collections. The Korean side expressed strong interest in developing partnership initiatives and sharing expertise in the preservation of historical and cultural assets.
