The People's Republic of China has published the world's first complete geological atlas of the Moon, containing high-precision base map data for future studies of Earth's natural satellite.

The Lunar Atlas is a 1:2.5 million scale geological atlas of the lunar globe and is available in Chinese and English.

Chinese scientists believe that the geological atlas of the moon will be of great importance for studying its evolution, choosing a location for a future lunar research station and exploiting lunar resources.

“The world has witnessed significant advances in lunar exploration and scientific research in recent decades that have greatly improved our understanding of the Moon. However, his geologic maps, published during the Apollo era, remained unchanged for about half a century and are still used for exploration of Earth's satellite. These maps are outdated and currently cannot meet the needs of future lunar exploration," said Liu Jianzhong, a senior researcher at the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

"Apollo" is the space program of the United States, started in 1961 and closed in 1975, as part of which in 1969 the first manned flight to the moon and the first human landing on the Earth's satellite took place.

China's Tiandu-1 and Tiandu-2 experimental Moon-to-Earth communication satellites have undergone technology verification tests, including navigation calibrations and signal relaying between the satellite's surface and the planet.
