On March 28, the final event of the EURIZON project took place—an extensive initiative aimed at supporting Ukrainian researchers during the war. Thanks to the project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program, 324 Ukrainian scientists received €4.5 million to implement 65 research projects in collaboration with European research infrastructures.

The initiative was launched in April 2023 as a short-term research fellowship program lasting 6 or 12 months. Initially, the program expected to receive up to 80 applications and support approximately 90 researchers. However, following an awareness campaign in Ukraine, over 780 applications were submitted, with 730 meeting the eligibility criteria. In response to this high demand, the European Commission tripled the program's budget—from €1.5 million to €4.5 million.

The project engaged scientists from various regions of Ukraine, with the highest number of applications coming from Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Lviv. Young researchers were well represented among the participants, with women making up 88% of the research teams. The initiative covered a wide range of scientific fields, from physics, engineering, and energy to healthcare, digital sciences, and social innovations. The largest number of collaborative projects were conducted with institutions in Poland, Germany, and France.
