Eugene Kudriavets, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, participated as a delegate in the meeting of the Council of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

During the event, Eugene Kudriavets held bilateral meetings with the Director-General of CERN, Fabiola Gianotti, the President of the CERN Council, Professor Eliezer Rabinovich, and the Director of International Relations, Charlotte Warakaulle.

Discussions focused on Ukraine's involvement in the events commemorating the 70th anniversary of CERN's founding next year, Ukraine's role in CERN over the last 7 years of associate membership, and the preparation of a report on Ukraine's participation. They also initiated the consideration of canceling Ukraine's financial contribution in 2024.

A crucial aspect of the discussions was working with representatives of other countries on adopting a decision to sever all ties with Russia and Belarus. In response to the Russian Federation's military invasion of Ukraine, 23 member states of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) decided on March 25, 2022, to suspend contacts with scientists and institutions on the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

For Belarus, cooperation will end on June 27, 2024, and for Russia, on November 30, 2024. After these dates, all relations between CERN and Russian and Belarusian institutions will be terminated.

Additionally, the CERN Council decided to suspend scientific contacts with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna). This decision is outlined in the official statement on the organization's website.
