The President of Ukraine Awards Grants to Young Scientists and Doctors of Sciences for 2026

On 27 November 2025, the President of Ukraine signed two decrees establishing the annual Presidential Grants for 2026:

  • No. 130/2025-rp — on awarding grants to young scientists to support scientific research and development;
  • No. 131/2025-rp — on awarding grants to Doctors of Sciences for conducting scientific research and development.

The decisions were made based on competitive calls organised by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine in 2025 in accordance with the updated procedures defined by Presidential Decree No. 324/2024 and the Regulations approved by Decrees No. 1210/2002 and No. 446/2009.

The competitions covered the following categories:

  • young scientists who hold a Doctor of Sciences degree (under 40);
  • doctoral candidates (under 35);
  • holders of a PhD degree / Candidate of Sciences (under 35);
  • Doctors of Sciences (under 45).

How many researchers will receive grants in 2026?

Following the competitive selection, grant support will be awarded to:

  • 59 young scientists
  • 20 Doctors of Sciences

In total — 79 researchers, whose candidacies were recommended by the Scientific Council of the NRFU and submitted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to the Cabinet of Ministers for further consideration by the President.

The awarded grants will enable the implementation of new research ideas, strengthen scientific schools, and support the development of Ukrainian science in key areas.
