Applications are currently being accepted for the Bijan Sharopov Memorial Scholarship.

PhD candidates in the field of "Biology" from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" and graduate students of the O.O. Bogomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine are invited to participate in the competition.

The scholarship covers internships in the world's top laboratories to study the most advanced scientific research methods in the areas of the laureates' scientific interests. An essential criterion is the improvement of the scientific environment in Ukraine, so scholarship recipients are required to complete their PhD programs in Ukraine and educate colleagues in new methods.

The scholarship covers transportation expenses, accommodation, and daily expenses. The scholarship amount will be determined annually according to the budget for the trip. In 2023, the scholarship fund amounts to €15,000.

List of materials required for participation in the competition:

Motivation letter application for participation in the Scholarship Program (in English).

Project description (should include a brief description and research plan, information about the laboratory and the scientific method to be studied or improved, and the expected outcomes of the internship) (2 pages A4, Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing) (in English).

Resume (CV) in English.

A certificate of the candidate's studies at NaUKMA or the Institute.

A letter of recommendation from the candidate's scientific advisor or a professor at NaUKMA or the head of the Institute's department (in .pdf format).

Copies of documents confirming the candidate's status as a participant in hostilities, service in units of the Armed Forces and security forces of Ukraine, or a description of volunteer activities, including those in support of Ukraine's security and defense, in any format (if applicable).

An invitation letter for the internship from a foreign laboratory (if available).
