Description

On 14 October 2026, the eighth event in the DSpace Lab Day series will take place, focusing on the practical aspects of integrating ORCID with the DSpace platform and using researcher identifiers to develop an interconnected research infrastructure.

The event will bring together professionals working with research repositories, open science, and research information management systems. The speaker will be Paloma Marín-Arraiza, representing ORCID.

During the session, participants will learn how ORCID iDs and the ORCID Member API can help link researchers to their scholarly publications and other research outputs, improve repository metadata quality, and reduce the amount of information that needs to be entered manually.

The programme will include an overview of ORCID capabilities and a practical demonstration of its integration with DSpace, covering submission workflow configuration, metadata management and authorisation, automated retrieval of author information, and the use of this information to create researcher profiles in a CRIS (Current Research Information System).

Particular attention will also be given to common technical and organisational challenges that research institutions may encounter when implementing ORCID.

For Ukrainian research libraries and institutions, these solutions offer additional opportunities to improve the quality of research metadata, increase the visibility of research outputs, and strengthen interoperability between the components of the research information infrastructure.
