<jats:p>In the context of rapid digitalization and growing global competition, effective personnel management is of particular importance, as it allows ensuring sustainable development and competitiveness of the enterprise. In this regard, a comprehensive disclosure of the role of KPI in the management of the enterprise's personnel becomes relevant, which will allow forming a balanced system of evaluating the results of employees' activities, ensuring transparency and objectivity in making management decisions, and also contributing to increasing the motivation of personnel to achieve strategic goals. The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate the importance of KPI as a modern tool for strategic personnel management of the enterprise. In the process of conducting the research, a complex of general scientific and special methods of cognition was applied, including: analysis and synthesis, analytical grouping method, systematization and observation method, etc. In modern conditions, one of the ways that guarantees increasing competitiveness is the effective use of the enterprise's human resources potential. In this regard, there is a growing need for accurate, objective and transparent tools for assessing employee performance, which is a system of key performance indicators - KPI. In the context of personnel management, KPI is aimed at assessing the efficiency and productivity of each individual employee, department or enterprise as a whole, as well as at forming an effective motivation system. The study identified the main universal types of KPI in personnel management that can be used by enterprises of any industry, in particular: operational KPI; financial KPI; KPI related to determining the level of involvement / satisfaction and training / development. As a result, it was determined that the formation of a balanced KPI system in personnel management has a number of positive benefits for both the employees themselves and the enterprise, which contributes to increasing the effectiveness of labor activities, forming clear guidelines for development.</jats:p>
