The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine continues to advance the principles of openness and transparency in the field of science. Up-to-date information on Ukrainian scientific journals is now available through the interactive dashboard “Scientific Journals of Ukraine.”

The new digital tool brings together structured data on scientific journals included in Category B of the List of Scientific Professional Journals of Ukraine, enabling users to quickly identify journals according to their specific requirements.

At present, the dashboard contains information on 1,302 Category B journals published by 502 founding institutions. The journals can be analysed by clusters and academic specialties, publication frequency, access model, including the availability of diamond open access, whether publication is free of charge for researchers and specifically for PhD students, as well as inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Users can search for a specific journal by title, cluster, specialty, founder, or ISSN, and obtain an up-to-date link to the journal’s website. In addition to information about the journals themselves, the dashboard provides data on more than 19,000 members of editorial boards of Ukrainian scientific professional journals. This enables users to gain a comprehensive understanding not only of a journal’s subject area but also of its editorial and scholarly environment.

The creation of the dashboard represents another stage in the modernisation of the national system of scientific professional journals. In 2026, the approaches used to establish Category B of the List of Scientific Professional Journals of Ukraine were substantially updated. The revised framework strengthened requirements concerning academic integrity, transparency of editorial policies, publication ethics, peer review, openness of information about journal activities, and compliance with contemporary standards of scholarly communication.

The “Scientific Journals of Ukraine” dashboard will continue to be developed and expanded with new datasets. The next stage will involve integrating information on Category A scientific professional journals, which is currently not available in URIS in the volume and format required for presentation in the dashboard. The Ministry plans to collect and verify the relevant information from the founders of these journals and subsequently integrate it into the dashboard.

Soon, founders of Category B journals will also be able to update information about their journals through the URIS system, including changes to the journal title or composition of its founders, editorial board membership, inclusion in international bibliographic and scientometric databases and other databases, funding model, publication frequency, and other characteristics. This will make it possible to keep the dashboard data up to date and gradually establish a unified information environment for Ukrainian scientific professional journals.

The Ministry of Education and Science will continue to develop digital tools for the scientific sector and expand the scope of open data. Information in the dashboard will be updated in accordance with changes to the List of Scientific Professional Journals of Ukraine and the updating of information in the URIS system.
