On April 15, 2026, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, together with the “Ukrainian Scientific Diaspora” initiative, held an online presentation of the Institute of International Scientific Ambassadors—a new instrument for advancing international scientific cooperation.
The initiative aims to establish sustainable links between Ukrainian science and researchers working abroad, as well as to expand opportunities for interinstitutional collaboration.
It focuses on launching joint research projects, identifying new partnerships for higher education institutions and research organizations, and systematically strengthening the presence of Ukrainian science in the global academic space.
Nearly 200 participants joined the presentation, including representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland, higher education institutions, research organizations, national academies of sciences, as well as international partner organizations and members of the Ukrainian scientific diaspora.
During the event, the key provisions of the Model Regulation on Scientific Ambassadors—approved by MES Order No. 568 dated April 3, 2026—were presented, along with the role of this initiative in expanding partnerships between Ukrainian higher education institutions, research organizations, and foreign institutions.
Special attention was given to both conceptual and practical aspects: who a scientific ambassador is, what tasks they perform, and how they facilitate sustainable professional connections between Ukrainian and international scientific communities. The discussion also covered implementation aspects, including mechanisms of interaction, formats of cooperation, and opportunities for participation in international programs, projects, and consortia.
Following the discussion, participants agreed on the next steps for implementing the initiative, including establishing systematic communication and preparing for its practical launch.
