The Open Science Lab at TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and University Library invites members of the ORCID-Ukraine Consortium to participate in and disseminate the survey “Scientific Instruments and Metadata for the Recovery of Research Infrastructures in Ukraine.”
The survey directly addresses issues related to persistent identifiers, institutional research information, metadata quality, interoperability, and research information systems.
In addition to researchers, organizations, and research outputs, scientific instruments and research equipment can also be considered important research objects that require structured metadata and links to researchers, organizations, projects, publications, datasets, and services.
We encourage consortium members to share the survey with relevant colleagues and institutional contacts, in particular:
The survey is conducted within the framework of the “Metadata Mapping for Scientific Instruments in Ukraine” project, implemented by the TIB Open Science Lab under the Philipp Schwartz Initiative.
The aim of the project is to understand how scientific instruments and research equipment are currently documented, described using metadata, used, and administered in Ukraine, particularly in the context of the recovery of research infrastructures.
Your expert responses will help to:
Multiple responses from the same institution are welcome, particularly from colleagues working in different roles, including repositories, libraries, CRIS/URIS administration, research departments, laboratories, and IT units.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could disseminate the survey through your institutional and professional networks.
Estimated completion time: 15–20 minutes
Deadline for responses: 30 September 2026
Survey: https://tib.eu/umfragen/index.php/341374?lang=en
The survey is not an audit and is not intended to assess, compare, or rank institutions, systems, laboratories, research groups, or individuals. Responses will be analyzed only in aggregated and anonymized form for scientific purposes.
