The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine has signed an order on the awarding and funding of state scholarships for researchers and academic staff based on the results of the ranking in the National System of Researchers of Ukraine (NSRU).
The first wave of scholarships has been awarded to 1,934 researchers and academic staff for the period from October 2026 to September 2028, in accordance with the approved list.
A total of 2,650 state scholarships are предусмотрed under the NSRU. Additional reviews of applications submitted by the remaining candidates are currently being conducted by the Expert Commission. This process includes verifying the required information and documents, in particular, confirmation of employment in a research or academic position as the primary place of work, completion of other scholarship programmes, residence in Ukraine, and the required signatures on letters from employers.
The absence of a researcher’s name from the first-wave list does not mean that their application has been rejected. Provided that they meet the established eligibility requirements and complete the necessary procedures, scholarships will be awarded to these researchers in subsequent waves through separate orders issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The state scholarship amounts to UAH 10,000 per month and will be paid through the researchers’ primary place of employment. The signing of the order marks the beginning of additional individual support for researchers working in Ukraine.
The scholarships were awarded on the basis of the decision of the Expert Commission dated 26 October 2026. The order was prepared in accordance with the Procedure for Awarding State Scholarships, approved by Resolution No. 678 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 20 May 2026.
