International Open Access Week 2026 will take place on 19–25 October 2026. This annual global initiative promotes open access to research outputs and advances the principles of Open Science.

This year’s theme, “The Cost of Knowledge,” encourages open discussion about access to scientific information, the equitable exchange of knowledge, and the reduction of social inequalities. It highlights the role of open access in fostering an inclusive research environment in which scientific knowledge is accessible to researchers, educators, students, and society as a whole.

The State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine (SSTL of Ukraine) is joining the celebration of International Open Access Week 2026 and invites the research community, higher education institutions, research organisations, and libraries to participate in the planned activities.

5th International Conference “Open Science and Innovation 2026”

On 21–22 October 2026, the 5th International Conference “Open Science and Innovation 2026” will take place.

The conference will provide a platform for discussing current developments in Open Science, research infrastructures, open access to scientific publications and research data, as well as international cooperation in science and innovation.

Registration is open until 15 October 2026.

A Series of Events for International Open Access Week

In cooperation with the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the NGO Ukrainian Modern Digital Science, and Digital Development Academy LLC, a series of thematic events will be held to promote open access and the development of Open Science in Ukraine.

The programme includes online webinars and other activities designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, share practical expertise, and support open research practices.
