The State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Clarivate, invites PhD students, early-career researchers, and all interested scholars to participate in the Summer School “Scientific Communication in the Digital Age.”

This series of six webinars focuses on contemporary approaches to scholarly information retrieval, academic writing, research data management, the use of artificial intelligence, and research ethics. Participants will gain practical skills in working with international research databases, bibliographic management tools, and digital resources that have become essential components of modern research practice.

2 July — Beyond Google: Searching for Scholarly Information

An overview of modern academic search engines and multidisciplinary databases. Practical training on the Web of Science platform, including effective search strategies, filtering results, analyzing publications, and tracking citations.

9 July — Reference Managers and Persistent Identifiers

Managing personal libraries of scholarly sources and automating citation and reference formatting. The role of persistent identifiers (ORCID, DOI) in enhancing researcher visibility and ensuring accurate attribution and citation.

16 July — How to Prepare a Systematized Literature Review for a Dissertation or Research Project

Key stages of conducting a systematized literature review, including developing search strategies, defining selection criteria, documenting the review process, and using tools for managing large volumes of literature.

23 July — Artificial Intelligence for Research

Opportunities and limitations of AI-based tools in the research process, from literature discovery and data analysis to academic writing, as well as issues related to the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.

30 July — Research Data Management

The research data lifecycle and FAIR principles, data management planning, metadata standards, repositories, and the growing requirements of funders and journals regarding data sharing and openness.

6 August — Research Ethics

Principles of academic integrity, plagiarism prevention, ethical issues related to authorship, peer review, and scholarly publishing, as well as ethical considerations in data management and the use of artificial intelligence.
