About the Symposium

The International Symposium on Black Sea Day 2026 will be held on October 31, 2026, at Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University in a hybrid format (in-person and online).

The aim of the Symposium is to bring together researchers from different fields to study the Black Sea and the wider Black Sea region from diverse disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.

We welcome research on the hydrology and oceanography of the Black Sea, with particular attention to marine and coastal processes, hydrodynamics, water resources, climate variability and climate change, environmental dynamics, and the functioning and resilience of aquatic ecosystems. Contributions addressing environmental monitoring, pollution, biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the sustainable management of the Black Sea are also welcome.

The programme will also provide an opportunity to present interdisciplinary research on broader issues related to the Black Sea region, including its societies, history and cultural heritage, languages and literature, politics and international relations, law, economics, and other related topics.

Researchers, academics, and experts from various fields are invited to submit materials presenting the results of their research.

Submission Guidelines

• Submission deadline: October 1, 2026.
• Length: 3,000–7,000 characters, including spaces.
• Language: Submissions must be prepared in English.
• Email: Materials should be sent to inter.conf@onu.edu.ua.
• Participation fee: Participation in the Symposium and electronic publication of accepted submissions are free of charge.

Formatting Requirements

Materials should be submitted electronically in .doc or .docx format. The file should be named after the surname of the first author (presenting author), for example: Ivanov.docx.

• Page format: A4 (210 × 297 mm), portrait orientation.
• Font: Times New Roman, 14 pt.
• Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
• Paragraph indentation: 1 cm.
• Line spacing: 1.0.
• Automatic hyphenation: disabled.
• Text alignment: justified.

Structure of Submissions

• 1st line: title of the submission — IN CAPITAL LETTERS, bold, centred.
• 2nd line: full name, academic degree and academic title of the presenting author — bold italics; full names, academic degrees and academic titles of co-authors — italics.
• 3rd line: affiliation, including the full name of the institution.
• 4th line: blank.
• 5th line: beginning of the main text.
