Extended Application Deadline for the 2nd International Week for Libraries in Greece

Within the framework of the ATHENA Alliance of Higher Education Institutions in Advanced Technologies, the application period for the 2nd International Week for Libraries has been extended.

The event will take place from 21 to 25 September 2026 at the Mediterranean University of Crete (Greece) and offers an excellent opportunity for library professionals to enhance their expertise, exchange experiences, and strengthen international cooperation.

The programme includes:

  • Presentations and thematic workshops;
  • Visits to libraries and cultural sites;
  • Networking and social events;
  • Exchange of best practices in library services and management.

Main Topics

Participants will have the opportunity to explore and discuss:

  • Library consortia;
  • Library services for people with disabilities;
  • Open Science and Open Access;
  • Information literacy;
  • Community engagement and empowerment.

Eligibility and Funding

Applicants are required to have an English language proficiency level of B2 or higher.

Funding is available for selected participants.

Application Deadline

Applications are open until 8 June 2026.

Please note that applications submitted through authorized representatives will not be accepted. The complete application package must be submitted in person to Building 31, Office 2-14.

Applicants are also advised to take into account the current restrictions on crossing the Ukrainian state border for certain categories of citizens due to the ongoing martial law regulations.
